To add the highlight to this special and important event, we have the honor of donated proceeds of auctioned art from Park West Gallery’s world-renowned artist, Peter Max. Yes, Peter Max will be creating art in dedication for our special fund raising event for the the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Florida. Truly an Honor. The profits will help fund the construction of new, greatly needed guest rooms at the Ronald McDonald House here in S.W. Florida.

We will also have the pleasure and honor to have our local NBC-2 news anchor team, Kellie Burns and Craig Wolf, to help MC this benefit. We are very thankful to have such support.

The artists include Steven Yunck (Madison, WI), Sandi Paniccia (Bonita Springs, FL), Jeanne K. Bradley (Bonita Springs, FL), Edith Hiller (Rutland, VT), Margo Vigorito (Bonita Springs, FL), Barbara Raber (Bonita Springs, FL), Eileen Walden Johnson (Bonita Springs, FL), and Jackie Moore (Bonita Springs, FL).

Before we proudly highlight all the rest of our artists not profiled in our last issue of the Carla Bonten Communique – Bi-Monthly Newsletter, we’d like to take the time to acknowledge Sandi Paniccia…our Invitation Cover winner. Her painting will be on the cover of the special invitations we will be sending out and will be available at the live auction on Saturday, February 8, 2003.

And now for all the rest of our participating artists…

Barbara Raber
Barbara attended Parsons School of Design in New York City. After moving to Pennsylvania she studied at The Philadelphia Museum School and Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. Barbara's painting are in many private collections in the Philadelphia, Naples and Bonita Springs area. Her favorite mediums are oil and pastel.

Margo Vigorito
Margo Vigorito was born with a passion to create art. The realization of the path her life would take came to her at an early age, whenever she had a spare time, she would find herself drawing.  As the years progressed she discovered she discovered that she could make a difference in people's lives through her natural talents and could communicate her knowledge to other, thus beginning a successful teaching career.

Her work is a diverse as the range of mediums she uses. Margo paints portraits, landscape, figures, abstracts & anything that she feels excited about or inspired to do. Using pencils, pastels, oils, acrylics,
conte crayons & mixed media/collage she creates moments suspended in time. Her most current works involve mixed media with collage in a figurative presentation, the "story" she is telling is evident in each painting.

Originally from Australia, Margo Vigorito lived in NE Pennsylvania for 8 years. She ran her own studio/gallery in Harvey's Lake where she sold her artwork & also taught. Since arriving in SW Florida in 199, she has been teaching at the Art League of Bonita Springs as well as in her own "Banyan Studio" in North Naples.

Margo believes she was given the gift of life for ONE purpose, that of communicating through her talent. She is passionate every day of her life because of this, and hopes to continue to inspire, intrigue and tantalize art lovers & students wherever she goes.

Margo has work in many private & corporate collections throughout the world including the following cities: London, Hong Kong, New York City, Atlanta, Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin, Hobart, Brisbane, Adelaide, Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Sandi PanicciaJackie Moore
Jackie Moore has been painting since childhood and has mastered her outstanding use of oils, acrylics, and pastels through years of intensive study with mentors, cultural centers, and artist retreats throughout the Northeast and Florida.

For the past 10 years she has operated out of her studio in Bonita Springs, Florida and works diligently on commissions throughout the country and exhibitions in southwest Florida. Moore's art reflects a magical use of light and color to convey an atmosphere and mood that capture the natural surrounding of her subjects. Her love for nature is a passion that is shown in all of her work. The medium she chooses to use for each subject is in harmony with
the environment.

Steven Yunck
Steve explores metaphors of nature. This non-representational form of art explores color theory and composition that invoked the feeling of a situation His work deals with subjective relationship and circumstances of natural phenomenon. Each piece brings together memory and imagSandi Panicciaination. In this respect, he finds it interesting to paint holistically in dealing with isomorphic relationship that binds media and concept.

He started working in the Arts at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point where he received his Bachelors of Fine arts in 1998. After his graduation he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and began incorporating his fine art ideas into graphic design. Using those concepts as a base, he taught computer aided graphic design at Temple University and stayed there for about a year and a half and then moved back to Wisconsin.

He is currently at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and will graduate with a Masters of Arts and a Masters of Fine Arts this spring. His work combines idiosyncratic methods and traditional means that open a discussion about the natural world.

Edith Hiller
Born in Java, Indonesia, of Dutch decent, Edith Hiller now resides in Rutland, Vermont with her husband. She has two children, one growing up in Holland. She has an interest in arts and crafts, enjoying painting both with oils and acrylics. After moving to the States she still dabbled in painting but not take it seriously until encourage by the praise of a friend who saw evidence of her extensive talent.

Edith has studied under several artists, they are Ann McFarren and Linda Stanton whose works are know throughout New England, and the English Artists Ron Ranson. Her subjects vary but she chiefly enjoys using still life, wild and scenery as her subject. Her artistry has led to many shows in New England and several in Europe.

Her work has been in many galleries. The Chaffey Art Gallery, Southern Vermont Art Gallery, The Gallery at The Cortina and The Gallerie In Antwerp.

Florida is an incredibly diverse state, which is a real gift for our visitors! Within just a short driving time, there is a world of culture, entertainment and nature, etc., ready to be experienced. Here are just a few of the activities and attractions that await you when you visit the Bonita Springs/Naples/Sanibel/Fort Myers area.

In this issue, we are proud to profile a wonderful local attraction, Caribbean Gardens in Naples.

Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve
Aquatic preserves are submerged lands of exceptional beauty which are to be maintained in their natural or existing condition.

Florida Legislature created aquatic preserves as a result of increased population pressures on Florida. In the early 1960's, a group of local citizens exhibiting great insight for environmental awareness and conservation helped establish Florida's first aquatic preserve in Estero Bay.

This Preserve is like no other! It is located between Bonita Beach and Matanzas Pass in Ft. Myers in lovely Estero Bay. It includes vast expanses of mangroves, dozens of bird, mammal and fish species and expansive bay vistas. CLICK HERE to view more information and slide shows!

Caribbean Gardens: The Naples ZooCaribbean Gardens News:

In early January, Dr. David E. Guggenheim, The Ocean Conservancy's Vice President for Conservation Policy, delivered a special evening presentation: The America No One Ever Told You About: Lessons from Our Youngest Frontier. Fresh from his recent appearances on National Geographic Today and CNN, the former president of The Conservancy of Southwest Florida, returned to Naples to speak about the compelling issues affecting the Gulf of Mexico, Southwest Florida and the Everglades. He also discussed his work in Cuba.

Guests were able to view several short videos of stunning, never before seen images of the Gulf of Mexico, from offshore Naples to the reefs of Vera Cruz, Mexico. These images were taken from the one-person
submersibles that Dr. Guggenheim piloted as part of National Geographic's Sustainable Seas Expeditions.
