Real Estate Market News The Ft. Myers News-Press reports that existing single-family home sales have taken a slight dip from April to May nationally, but Southwest Florida continues to buck the trend. Nationally, May sales were down 0.3 percent but still were the fourth-highest sales on record, according to the National Association of Realtors. In Lee County, existing single-family home sales in May were up 19 percent from May last year. Fort Myers and Cape Coral led Lee with a 30 percent increase. In Collier County, Naples home sales rose 34 percent. ------ Would You Like

The Butterfly Sanctuary: The Butterfly Sanctuary and Nature Trail is a nonprofit conservation effort on private property off of Vanderbilt Beach Road, featuring a small nature trail filled with butterflies, insects and plants plus an art studio. The Art League is also presenting "In Bloom A Passion For Flowers". This event opens with a public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 7 at the Center for the Arts, the Art League of Bonita Springs, 26100 Old U.S. 41. The cost is free. The League will unveil a new exhibition, "Art & Language," at
an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 12. The show includes
works that include communication, such as letters, words, subliminal
messages, etc. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through

Adopt A Canal: Groups, families, companies can adopt a canal for regular cleanup. Signs acknowledging the group will be strategically placed. Big Cypress Basin as well as county canals are available for adoption. Call for details - 352-4344 "Jesus Christ Superstar," presented by the Red Curtain Players, opens with a special 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, show at the Red Curtain Gallery in the Seafarer's Village Mall, Fort Myers Beach. Other performances take place at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 5 and 6 as well as July 11 to 13, 18 to 20 and 25 to 27. Ice Cream Theatre, the children's venue at Naples Dinner Theatre, presents "Rapunzel" Tuesday, July 2, as well as July 5, 6, 12 and 13. continues Bluegrass, folk and American traditional music jam sessions take place at Flamingo Island Flea Market in Bonita Springs from noon to 3 p.m. every Sunday. Other players who sit in during the sessions receive free refreshments. The flea market is on Bonita Beach Road 100 yards west of Interstate 75, exit 116 (formerly exit 18).
